Bovis Homes set to build 130 new homes in Oundle
17 Mar 2021

Vistry East Midlands has exchanged contracts on a 16-acre site in Oundle with outline planning permission for 130 new homes. The parcel of land, situated to the east of Cotterstock Road and the west of River Nene, has been purchased from a private seller, sold by Richardson’s Surveyors. The site has outline planning secured already through Gladman Developments. The housebuilder, part of Vistry Group which includes Bovis Homes, Linden Homes and Vistry Partnerships, is now preparing to submit a detailed planning application to East Northamptonshire Council for the development. If approved, the development will be built under the Bovis Homes brand and will deliver 74 houses for private sale, four self-build plots, and 52 affordable properties for rent or shared ownership, comprising a mix of two to five-bedroom designs. Construction work could start later this year with the first homes going on sale in the summer of 2022. Around 125 full-time construction jobs are set to be created during the build programme. Verity MacMahon, land director for Vistry East Midlands, said: “This land deal will enable us to move forward with our proposals for a new development in the attractive and sought-after market town of Oundle. If approved, our plans will bring much-needed new homes and employment opportunities to the local area. “We look forward to submitting our detailed planning application and working with the local authority to deliver a wide selection of house types to meet the growing demand for housing in this part of East Northamptonshire. “The site is in a prime location for residential development, just over a mile from the town centre. As well as benefitting from a multitude of nearby amenities, the land is also opposite the Oundle Church of England Primary School, which will make it attractive to families.” Under the proposals, a large area of the land is to be provided as open space, and is set to include a children’s play area and wildflower meadow. The developer also plans to retain some of the landscape’s existing features, including mature trees, hedgerows and the public footpath which runs across the eastern boundary of the site. In addition to the new homes, the planning agreement will see the housebuilder provide financial contributions towards education, libraries, transport including a cycle path, health and community facilities. Bovis Homes is already building new homes in Peterborough at the Hampton Water development, off London Road. For more information, visit bovishomes.co.uk.
