Vistry hosts Home Stepper event for people looking to get on property ladder in Stafford

An event to spread the word about a scheme to help people get on the housing ladder was held at Partridge Walk in Stafford.

Vistry Group hosted the Home Stepper event at its development off Stone Road in the Beaconside area of the town, where it is building under its Bovis Homes brands.

The day was an opportunity for house-hunters to find out more about the Home Stepper initiative, which allows buyers to purchase a percentage of their new home and pay rent on the rest.

As well as speaking to sales advisors from the Vistry team, visitors also had the opportunity to discuss their options with mortgage experts from Choice Finance.

The event attracted a wide spread of visitors who were also able to enjoy street food and treats from an ice cream van. Youngsters were kept entertained on the day with face painting.

Freya Halsall, marketing manager at Vistry Mercia, said: “The event was very successful as we were able to let lots of people know all about Home Stepper and how it could help them. Visitors on the day were keen to find out more about the scheme as it could enable them to get on the property ladder much sooner than they might have expected.

“With a reduced purchase price, people don’t need to find quite such a large deposit and that can mean the difference between buying a home or not. It can also allow people to buy something larger than they might otherwise have done.

“Some potential buyers who attended our event were pleasantly surprised to discover just how affordable one of these impressive homes could be.

“Partridge Walk was recently shortlisted for the WhatHouse Awards in the Best Interior category, so it’s a development that is generating a lot of interest from both buyers and industry experts. To buy a house here with a smaller deposit is therefore a great opportunity.”

Vistry Group has partnered with Sage Homes, England’s largest provider of newly built affordable homes to launch the Home Stepper scheme.

It is like standard shared ownership allocations that are agreed with local authorities when planning permission is given. However, while traditional shared ownership homes are in pre-determined locations, Home Stepper allows Vistry Group to allocate a wider range of open market properties as shared ownership homes.

Buyers can purchase up to 75 per cent of their home under the scheme.
