2024 Ghoulish Guide: Spooky activities to enjoy in the North West

There’s something so wholesome about getting wrapped up in your cosiest ensemble as you head out on a colourful Autumn walk. So the good news is there’s a huge choice of Halloween events and activities taking place across the North West this October to add to the magic.

Check out some of our favourite things to do here.

PYO 🎃

Halloween wouldn’t be complete without pumpkins and if you’re on the lookout for the perfect patch to pick your own, then Family Days Out has you covered.

They’ve searched far and wide to bring you ‘The Ultimate Guide to Pumpkin Picking, North West 2024’ and it has all of the best spots to find pumpkins big and small.

Fireside fun 🔥

The ‘Pumpkin Nights at Mrs Dowsons’ in Blackburn particularly caught our eye. After strolling through rows of colourful pumpkins and looking in on the farm animals, you’re invited to sit under a blanket of stars, whilst you listen to live music by a mesmerising fire, with toasted marshmallows and a hot chocolate (or Baileys) in hand.

Just imagine…

Twilight trails ✨

Perfect for kids and grown-ups of all ages, Halloween light trails continue to grow in popularity, with more and more experiences being launched each year.

New for 2024, Quarry Bank in Styal, is a brand new illuminated trail for the whole family, filled with some seriously spooky surprises that guarantee to blow the cobwebs away.

Choose from a daylight, twilight or moonlight walk and weave past pumpkins, fire pits, and fire performers in the atmospheric surroundings of the mill and its enchanting woodlands.

🙂by day 😱at night

By day, Spooky World at Apple Jacks Farm in Warrington is loved by families looking for a fun day out on a farm, with hay bales, soft play and spooky trailer rides.

But by night things take a dramatic turn, with different hair-raising attractions full of jump scares, terrifying make-up, costumes and actors.

It comes with a warning, it’s not for the faint hearted, but if you’re brave enough they’ve promised 2024 will be bigger and better than ever before.

Big City Lights 💃

For an experience like no other, a huge Halloween street party is set to take over Liverpool this year. There’ll be spooky characters, street performers and prizes up for grabs for those dressed in the most creative costumes.

The free family-friendly event will take place on Sunday 27th October from 11am-5pm and it runs alongside the amazing River of Lights attraction - an annual waterfront event not to be missed.
