Customer service with a smile ?" Vistry director appointment for Amanda
15 Mar 2021

Having spent all her working life in the new homes sector ?" customer service director Amanda Machon knows just how important it is to a build solid relationship between developer and homeowner. Bringing a wealth of experience to the new role, it is most certainly customer service with a smile for anyone communicating with the multi-tasking Amanda! Amanda has been with the company since 2018 and was recently promoted from customer service manager to director, working across all departments to ensure the delivery of quality homes and aftercare for new residents. In her new position, she will be looking after both Bovis Homes and Linden Homes customers as part of their Vistry house buying experience. She said: “I think in any customer service role you have to be patient, be able to listen and be empathetic; whatever the questions or issue. I also believe that as most of our contact is through the telephone, smiling whilst you are talking to someone not only makes you feel better, but I’m sure it filters through into the conversation. Most people would say that I am a smiley person!” As well as working for new homes developers in the private sector, Amanda also spent 10 years working as an architectural technician in her ‘dream job’ of designing homes before moving to the public sector on housing services regenerations projects. However, she is now relishing her latest role: “The job involves working closely with the construction and sales departments. Our customers receive their first service through sales in selling their home and construction in building it. I liaise weekly with the construction team to ensure customers have the quality home they have purchased and that their aftercare is continual through their journey with construction, as well as their ‘handover’ to customer services.” Amanda added: “When I first started in this industry, working my way through university, it was a very male dominated environment with very few women around at all. However, that was a fair time ago, and I do feel that women should be offered the same opportunities as men within construction depending on qualification and skills. I don’t think gender should come into question, and companies like Vistry should continue to encourage inclusion and acceptance in the workplace.”
